Robert Kubica has completed his preparations for this week’s opening round of the 2015 FIA World Rally Championship, Rallye-Monte Carlo.
The Pole will drive for his own team this season, with the RK World Rally Team supported by long-time partners Grupa Lotos and Grupa Azoty. Kubica will also work with a new tyre supplier this year – his Ford Fiesta RS WRC will be competing on Pirelli’s throughout 2015.
Rallye Monte-Carlo is the traditional season-opener to the World Rally Championship and provides a massive challenge for all the drivers. The route will take the crews through demanding mountain roads on an event world-famous for ever-changing weather conditions and widely varying grip levels.
Last week, Robert Kubica and his co-driver Maciek Szczepaniak took part in a three-day test near Gap in France, where they were able to prepare for the rally in all weather conditions.
Robert Kubica: “For many reasons, Rallye Monte-Carlo is a big challenge for me. Some of the special stages will be completely new to me. Weather conditions will play a big part in what happens in the standings. I won two stages on this event last year, but the competition will be very tough this season. The factory teams are surely well prepared. Monte-Carlo is a great event and everyone wants to do well on this opening round. But the goal on the first outing for the RK WRT squad I’ve built will be to get as much experience as possible. I’m very happy with the loyal support from my current partners: Grupa Lotos and Grupa Azoty and we’ve spent the winter break working hard on the new structure in the team.â€
